What is travertine ?

Travertine is a natural stone used since Antiquity, renowned for its exceptional durability over time. It is a material that is not affected by water. Travertine comes in several shades. At TALKA, we offer beige travertine and pink travertine. Hugely popular in the 1970s, travertine is today making a powerful comeback in interior design.

The quality of TALKA travertine

The very heart of our brand is the quality of the natural stone we offer. This comes down to:

• Stone selection : The quality of natural stone can vary enormously. We select a travertine with very low porosity and homogeneous veining. The sourcing of our stone is the foundation of everything we make, and we approach it with the highest standards.
• Stone treatment : At TALKA, there are many steps between raw stone and the finish we offer. TALKA travertine is worked to bring out its veining and golden blonde colour. We then seek a smooth surface with filled pores, essential for everyday use, before applying a matte, almost velvety polished finish. Finally, we apply a food-safe sealant you will find nowhere else.

Travertine is a natural material : each piece of furniture is unique, with variations in shade and veining from one piece to another. The pores of the travertine are filled with resin, though some texture may remain on the surface or corners, preserving the raw, natural character of the stone.

Each piece is sealed with a food-safe approved waterproofing product. Like all natural materials (such as solid wood), care should be taken with acidic products (alcohol, vinegar, lemon, red wine, etc.), which may cause staining over time if not cleaned promptly.

To clean your travertine piece, use a mild soap (such as Marseille soap) and a damp cloth. We recommend the products from the Act of Caring brand, available on our website: the wax, the spray, or the complete wax & spray kit for optimal care of your furniture.

Delivery in Île-de-France

• White-glove delivery by the TALKA team to your floor and room of choice, including for dining tables.
• Delivery appointment scheduled by phone. Deliveries are made Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM. Alternative time slots available upon request.

Delivery outside Île-de-France

• Delivery handled by a specialist carrier for bulky furniture. Curbside delivery only.

Delivery to Switzerland

• When a Swiss address is entered in the cart, French VAT is automatically deducted: the displayed price becomes tax-exclusive.
• Upon delivery, Swiss VAT payment as well as any applicable customs duties and clearance fees will be the customer's responsibility.
• Delivery completed in 2-3 weeks by a specialist carrier for bulky furniture, curbside delivery.

See a TALKA dining table in Paris ?

Our Maja dining table model (180x90cm) in Beige travertine is on display at the Toulemonde Bochart showroom in the 2nd arrondissement in Paris.
