TALKA travertine pieces are sealed
Each TALKA piece is treated with a sealant (both water- and oil-repellent) to withstand everyday life. The product used prevents water, grease and oil from penetrating the stone. It is food-safe and does not alter the colour or appearance of the surface. We recommend applying a new coat of sealant every 2 or 3 years (depending on use) to maintain protection. As travertine is naturally porous, resin is used to give a smooth finish and enhance waterproofing.

Travertine is a material that is naturally resistant to water; this is one of the reasons why this stone is often used in the construction of swimming pools and terraces.
How to care for travertine furniture?
To clean your travertine table, mild soap or a neutral pH soap is the best option. Dampen a microfibre cloth with warm water and mild soap. Then clean the surface of your travertine piece using circular motions. Finally, dry thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
What is the best cleaner for a travertine table?
Marseille soap or black soap are recommended for everyday cleaning of your TALKA piece. They gently care for travertine stone without damaging the protective layer. It is also possible to use a special cleaner for stone.
How to remove stains from travertine?
We recommend cleaning stains immediately to preserve the full brilliance of this stone over time and to avoid damaging the sealant. To reduce a stubborn stain, opt for baking soda or hydrogen peroxide (check the safety instructions for this product), testing first on a small area. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are unsure.
Products to avoid on travertine furniture
The stone is sensitive to acidic products (especially vinegar and red wine), as they can damage the protective layer. We also recommend not using abrasive or acidic household products such as household vinegar, products containing lemon, ammonia or bleach. Powder products are also not recommended.
