What is Calacatta marble?

This marble is characterized by a white background and marbling ranging from gold to gray, black, and even purple. There are several types of Calacatta marble : Classic Calacatta marble, Calacatta Oro marble (also called Calacatta Gold marble), and Calacatta Viola marble. Calacatta marble resembles Carrara marble but is more contrasting and rarer.
